In Agia Marina of Koropi, near Lombarda beach, visitors can spot two “twin” German machine guns, remnants of World War II, camouflaged on the rocky surface of the slope towards the sea. The machine gun bunkers were built in a strategic location and have openings that overlook the Saronic Gulf and therefore control sea traffic. Their circular shape with two large openings allows them to have a firing angle of about 160 degrees, which makes them extremely effective. At the same time, their flat roof helps them disappear into the rocky environment in which they are installed, making it very difficult for the enemy to detect them.
