Memorial for the Battle of Floria and Agrimokefala

The simple monument that visitors can see today in Floria is a tribute to the deceased inhabitants of the village who offered their lives for their ideals in one way or another during the period of World War II. The composition consists of three columns. The middle one, taller than the other two and bearing a bronze cross, is dedicated to those who gave their lives on May 23rd, 1941, during the clashes of the Battle of Crete that took place in the areas of Floria and Agrimokefala. The one on the left is dedicated to the victims of the village of Floria and the Community of Palea Roumata that fell during the period of the German Occupation due to their participation in battles, or in retaliation, due to their resistance activities. Finally, the column on the right is dedicated to the residents who were killed fighting during the Greek-Italian War, on the Albanian front.
