The country house of the Mellas family was a popular holiday destination for high- ranking members of the bourgeoisie of Athens during the 19th century. The leading Macedonian hero Pavlos Melas lived there and designed the building himself. Together with him lived his wife Natalia Dragoumi and their two children. The house was inherited by Pavlos Melas' daughter Zoi Mela-Ioannidi, to be later passed on to his granddaughter Natalia Ioannidi. From the 1980s onwards, it suffered vandalism and various natural disasters, until the Ministry of National Defence began its reconstruction, restoration, and promotion in February 2020. Today, the historic house and the interesting historical relics it hosts are accessible to the general public.
