On Poseidonos Avenue, within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Alimos, there is a unique marble bust that depicts the figure of Thucydides (ca. 455 BC-399 BC). The bust was created by the sculptor Heraclitus and commissioned by Pantelis I. Drosos; it depicts the leading Athenian historian of antiquity, whose work is our main source of historical facts regarding the Peloponnesian War. The name of Thucydides is engraved on the marble sculpture. The composition is placed on a stone pedestal with a marble inscription.
