As a tribute to the victims of the Occupation and especially to the fallen of the Battle of Crete, i.e. the heroic resistance of the Greek fighters and the British, Australian and New Zealand Allies against the forces of Nazi Germany, a modest mausoleum was erected in 1954, where the bones of the Gendarmes who either died fighting or were executed for their participation in actions against the occupation authorities were placed. Among the names of the 111 heroes of the Gendarmerie, those of 5 Officers and 50 Cadets can be found.
