ΤThe memorial is located in the municipality of Nea Kidonia, in the prefecture of Chania, and is dedicated to the hundreds of victims that were executed during the German Occupation. There is a common grave on the hill, which has been symbolically named “Golgotha” to evoke the concept of martyrdom, which is home to the remains of patriots who were executed either by court martial in the adjacent prison of Agia, or in the surrounding valleys, in retaliation for the activities of the resistance. In the main part of the monument, apart from the symbolically placed boulders, there is also a pillar in front of which the victims were shot by the Germans.
