Germanos III of Old Patras

In 2002 the sculptor Kostas Kazakos from Ioannina created the brass statue of Metropolitan bishop Germanos III of Old Patras, which was placed in Piraeus the following year, in Lirikou Theatrou Square in Pasalimani. Kazakos' creation, inspired by the Legend of Agia Lavra, depicts the Greek hierarch blessing the revolutionaries with his right hand and holding the banner of the Revolution with his left. The name of Germanos and the dates of his birth and death are engraved on the pedestal of the statue, accompanied by verses by the poet Aristotelis Valaoritis.
