Nikaia Military Cemetery

The Third Cemetery of the Municipality of Athens is one of the largest cemeteries in the Balkans. There are close to 35 thousand people buried there and within it are included the cemeteries of the Italian Authorities of the Occupation, the new Jewish cemetery, as well as the Catholic and the Military cemetery. Within the cemetery, visitors can find memorials to those executed in the Blockade of Kokkinia and the Massacre of Egaleo. In addition, there are two other memorials in the Jewish section, one dedicated to the Greek Jews who died in the Albanian Front and the other to the Greek Jews who were victims of the Holocaust. For visitors who are fans of military history, the military section of the cemetery can offer an interesting and moving tour of the course of the struggles of the Greek nation.
