It is a monument following the European tradition of dedicating a memorial to the dead of war whose remains have been found but whose names are unknown. In the centre of the work of art, there is a carved figure of a soldier lying on his back. The monument is complemented by sixteen metal shields, cups of incense and quotations from Homer and Thucydides, toponyms of battles from the Balkan wars and, added later, of World War II and Cyprus.
