Alexandros Praidis, a Macedonian-born artillery lieutenant, was the first officer to fall during the Cretan Revolution in 1866. It is unknown who created his marble bust, but it is certain that it was created in the workshop of Andreas and Ioannis Remoundos. The bust was placed in Pedion tou Areos. The bust is not in a particularly prominent location and visitors must look for it near the entrance of the Church of Taxiarches.
