Chania War Museum Branch

Street view

Until recently, the Chania War Museum offered its visitors the opportunity to browse through collections of relics relating to many different aspects of Greek and especially Cretan military history. Particular emphasis was given to the Macedonian War, the Balkan Wars, the Asia Minor Campaign and World Wars I and II. The museum was housed in a barracks built in 1870, designed by the Italian architect Mancuso. The barracks is now located next to the Park of Peace and Friendship. The building, largely made of wood, caught fire in 2018. Today, the visitor can admire the splendour of the surviving parts of the building.
