The bust of General Ioannis Tsigantes was created by the sculptor Konstantinos Palaiologos. Ioannis Tsigantes-Svoronos took part in the Asia Minor Campaign, pioneered in the foundation of the Greek Military Organisation (ESO) and was very active in the resistance during the Occupation as a member of the organisation “Midas 614”. He lost his life during the Occupation, when Italian carabinieri discovered his hideout and attacked him. He was given the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel after his death, as he died on the battlefield. His bust adorns Egiptou Square and depicts him in the uniform of an officer.
