The historic café “Parthenon” was located in the ground floor of this building dating back to 1936, at number 4 Kifisias Avenue, where the Military Commander of Attica and Boeotia, Major General Christos Kavrakos surrendered the unfortified city of Athens to the German Lieutenant Colonel Otto von Seiben on the morning of April 27th, 1941. The protocol of the surrender was signed and the key to the capital, for which the period of Occupation was just beginning, was symbolically handed over.
